So it seems that all the lovely light shows we’ve been getting lately have been popping peoples power supplies. Just a reminder that up here a good surge protector might save your machine, but a UPS as well is a really worth considering as it might help with taking care of dips as well as spikes!
Better quality power supplies probably give you better resiliency, but as always, weigh your options and priorities. And if watching the pretty lights, or hearing the fun booming noises, perhaps consider how necessary it is to have your expensive gear connected to the mains.
BTW. I’m terrible at taking my own advice sometimes.
